Possibilities of Polymer - an Introduction to Mokume Gane

A colourful and creative full day masterclass, designed to inspire.

This masterclass will introduce you to polymer clay as an expressive art medium. You will learn the basics from selecting the right clay to correctly curing your work, all while creating a unique Mokume Gane style pendant or brooch.

Mokume Gane is a versatile surface technique based on a traditional Japanese metalworking process. It involves layering thin sheets of coloured clay, manipulating the stack with various objects, then carefully slicing off small, but amazing pieces. These pieces are then reassembled to produce an elaborate colourful design. Surprisingly simple, yet incredibly effective.

We will also discuss how polymer clay techniques like Mokume, can be used to add colour, depth and texture to ceramic, glass, wood and metal vessels and sculpture. The possibilities are endless.
